Naomi Campbell Interviews Hugo Chavez, Seriously…
Naomi Campbell has joined British GQ as a contributing editor and her first assignment is an interview with zealous Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez. Typo? You wish. In what seems like at least a brilliant Halloween, if not journalistic pairing, the sometimes cellphone-throwing supermodel has penned an article from an interview she recently conducted with the headstrong political figure who gained notoriety in recent years for his verbal chastising of the Bush administration, among other things.
You can’t say GQ isn’t politically conscious now. Imagine the effects of an army of supermodel reporters; Heidi Klum Speaks To Iran’s Ahmadinejad, maybe Iman Interviews Osama? In any case, Blackline must caution GQ on future pairings. Naomi vs. Korean strongarm Kim Jong-il might not be a good idea – nuclear war head trumps Nokia cellphone, every time.
The sources in my head inform me that the Chavez interview was no happy coincidence. believe Naomi and Chavez carpool to anger management anyway so they probably just knocked out the interview before they headed to session. But of course Ms. Campbell is no stranger to odd couples, remember the Michael Jackson video “Keep It In The Closet? Naomi grinding by a Mexican desert well and Michael circling her wearing what has to be the cheapest wife-beater ever sold and I believe there’s a donkey in that video somewhere. Yeah, Naomi, Michael, and a donkey. GQ might have had something to do with that too.
Campbell apparently found Chavez “fearless, but not threatening or unreasonable.” Not much seems unreasonable when cellphone-to-the-face is one of your standard responses to stress. In the end, however, much I deride the rise of fashion news journalism, I haven’t much to complain about. Imagine being a woman at the British GQ staff meetings now! Talk about impossible standards. Just call it a day, ladies, and invest in some kind of fashionable helmet/nose-guard combo.

Pure garbage. Thanks for perpetuating the “he’s a terrorist/dictator/kitten killer” meme! Next time, do some REAL journalism. At least Naomi Campbell tried to!
